Ian
Truitner joined the AWF in January 2007. He has written, produced and
directed numerous and award-winning projects for film, television and
commercial advertising during ten years in the entertainment industry.
Prior to this Mr. Truitner was at Warner Bros. Pictures in creative
development and Walt Disney Feature Animation. He served 6 years in
the U.S. Army National Guard, holds a B.A., cum laude, from the University
of Minnesota, and completed his course of study in screenplay writing
at the American Film Institute in 1999. Having witnessed the devastating
effects of conflict through his own family’s struggles escaping
war-torn South Vietnam in the 1970s, Mr. Truitner feels the mission
of the AWF is of vital importance. He hopes to use his collective experiences
of filmmaking, advertising, management, military and arts to create
global awareness of the AWF cause and inspire a better future for Afghanistan
and its people.
