Marco
Vicenzino is the founder and director of the Global Strategy Project
(GSP), a non-profit organization which was inaugurated by Italian foreign
minister, Gianfranco Fini, in April 2005. He also served as a Senior
Advisor for Strategy for the World Bank's External Relations Unit and
Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications and Planning for the first
ever World Congress on Communication for Development held in Rome in
October 2006. Mr. Vicenzino has also served as Deputy Executive Director
of the International Institute for Strategic Studies-US (IISS-US) in
Washington, DC, and as Director of Latin American Studies, Global Membership
and Outreach for the IISS. He also taught International Law at the School
of International Studies at American University in Washington, DC, and
was recently appointed by the Foreign Policy Association in New York
as a John C. Whitehead Fellow.
Mr. Vicenzino specializes in international strategic policy and global
political risk analysis. As a foreign affairs commentator, he contributes
his views regularly to numerous media outlets throughout the world,
including BBC World television and radio, CNN International, CNN Spanish,
Fox News, and Al Jazeera Arabic and International. He covers numerous
areas including international conflict and security issues, US foreign
policy, terrorism, transatlantic relations, the Middle East, Latin America
and the emerging geopolitical role of Asian powers in a globalized world.
Since 2003, he has appeared in over 600 interviews on television and
radio and his articles have appeared in leading global newspapers including
the Financial Times, Le Figaro, FT Deutschland, El Pais, Al Hayat, Folha
de Sao Paulo and El Universal. Mr. Vicenzino is also a regular contributor
to the websites of the Foreign Policy Association and the National Interest.
Mr. Vicenzino is a regular guest, participant and panel moderator at
international conferences, forums and institutes around the world. His
public-speakings engagements on topics of global concern have included
appearances in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas . He regularly
hosts public and private high-level gatherings and roundtables in Washington,
DC , including a regular lecture series with the World Bank which was
inaugurated by Ambassador Richard Haass, President of the Council on
Foreign Relations.
As a lawyer admitted to the New York State Bar, Mr. Vicenzino received
his law degree from Oxford University and LL.M. in International &
Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Vicenzino
received his B.A. in History and Political Science and M.A. in Government
& Politics, with a Certificate in International Law & Diplomacy,
from St. John's University in New York.
As an attorney, Mr. Vicenzino focused on government relations and international
business transactions. He was also a founding member, general counsel
and head of business development of the MapNetwork, an international
technology enterprise. He continues to serve as an advisor to corporations
seeking international business expansion and opportunities.
Mr.
Vicenzino is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
His languages include Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. He was recently
in Afghanistan on an Afghanistan World Foundation humanitarian fact-finding
mission to help address Afghanistan's principal needs and
requirements in the health sector. .
